日本人作家だけですよ、民族とかそういう意識が薄いというか。いつも西洋志向なんですよね。確かにきれいだし、テクニックもあるし、そういう意味でのレベルはあるのでしょうけど。個人的な意識であるとか、育った中の環境の意識であるとか、やっぱり作品の中に少ないんですね。

 I think Japanese artists are the only people that seldom are conscious of our own identity. We are always western oriented. Our works are certainly smart and technical, so it can be evaluated as a certain level. But, I still believe they lack individual consciousness or their own originality resulting from their background.
