Hello! My name is Ben and I’m from Northern California which is in the United States. I’ve lived in Japan for over three years now. Since before I started college, it was my dream to come to Japan. In my college life I studied general education as well as Spanish, Japanese, Global Peace Studies and lastly, TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). After studying very hard for nine years, I was able to accomplish my dream in coming here.

During my time in Japan, I’ve taught English to adults and children at two different Eikaiwa’s in Kanagawa, Mie and Okayama prefectures. My experiences teaching and living in a foreign culture have been truly rewarding.

Although I have worked most of my time in Japan, I have been able to experience some of Japan’s beautiful culture. The famous Kintaikyo bridge in Shin-Iwakuni in Yamaguchi prefecture was a very beautiful place to visit. I also enjoyed traveling to Okunojima AKA, “Rabbit Island” in the Setto-Inland-Bay and Miyajima which are both part of Hiroshima prefecture. Hiroshima is also my favorite prefecture in Japan because of its long history, beautiful scenery and exciting nightlife. I also went to Kagawa and enjoyed their famous Sanuki-Udon which is very scrumptious! Other prefectures I visited include, Hyogo; Osaka; Kyoto; Aichi; Mie; Kanagawa and Tokyo.

My life in Japan is like an adventure and now I am teaching at Language Village in Shizuoka prefecture! I am so excited to meet you and I hope you will join our school so that we can work closely to improve your English skill. My goal as a teacher of Language Villageis for all of my students to take the knowledge from my lessons, with you, and use that knowledge in your daily lives. English is not widely spoken in Japan so, it takes much effort for you to find different ways to put your English to the best of use every day. I believe in you and I know you will do great! So, let’s begin!
